Are you Supporting Woolies??...

WoolWorths so Fresh...

WOOLIES SO INCONVENIENT

WoolWorths Campaign
#BoycottWoolworthsCampaingn  was one of the most popular hashtags on social media platforms it ignited so much speculation to those who didn’t have a cooking clue about what was happening at the WoolWorths stores. And unsettlement lay about whether loyal customers were going to fill up the queens the following days to come. The Campaign was embarked by the BDS ( BoycottDivestment and Sanctions)  and NCAP(NationalCoalition for Palestines) demanding that  WoolWorths stop their trade  with Israel considering the conflict  between the Palestine and  Israel.

The most peaceful Protest EVER outside WOOLIES

A Peaceful Protest Outside Woollis
What caught my attention most about the campaign was the unity of people fighting for the lives, rights of another people in another country. The rapid amount of eggs on twitter also voiced their opinion regarding the matter. We like it or not black, white race is a serious stigma killing nations and producing broken societies that can only be repaired if self-acceptance is on everybody’s lips…I think the campaign also brought up many issues that have been slipped under the carpet for too long the fact the Woolies trades with Israel gives me  the impression that they support oppression and segregation with that being said they are going against their values as an organisation and that gives me the conclusion that they are contradicting  themselves, and it makes no sense why…

And furthermore they say that trading won’t end because Government legislation allows them to perpetuate  with Israel but  why does Government allows them if Government self knows and understand the pain and suffering of segregation because this is similar to that of the apartheid regime were SA weren't  allowed to trade with another country because of the state of the country at that time.

THE HASHTAG THAT SPARKETED ATTENTION

Prominent people also raised their opinions by joining in the conversation with the hashtags #BoycottWoolWorthsCapaign and soon this sparked the attention for the young,  old  and the world.E.g. Former Generations Actor/ Presenter on SABC 2 Game Show Thato Maluma also supports the campaign.

Musicians like Simphiwe Dana, Football Freestyle Ashley Mhize, Shaka Sisulu as well as anti-apartheid icon Ahmend kathrada supports the campaign as well.

WoolWorths Store

As a Public Relations thought leader I think that WoolWorths is a good supermarket considering the fresh food sold and how long they last. Woolies also gets a lot of attention from potential investors and they have one of the Best Ads EVER!!! compared to others… And they are an open system because if you look at their external communication stage they use most socialplatforms to not only get their message across but engage with theirstakeholders which is Awesome!!!

  1. That is very interesting, but have you ever considered just maybe Woolworths cannot just drop a supplier, mind you those suppliers are the reasons why Woolworths has an excellent reputation of delivering quality products and suppliers like that are hard to find.

  3. Thank you for your comment. Oh, no WoolWorths can get suppliers from South Africa why should they choose to support Israel thats wrong because its exactly as what happened in SA during the apartheid regime no country wanted to trade with SA considering the image SA depicted at that time.

  5. I am still a bit confused though, don't all supermarkets have the right to sell what they want to their customers?

  6. They are allowed to sell what they want as long as what they sell doesn't go against their values.

  8. Because Woolis's supplier is from Israel and the situation in Israel is really bad because the Israel and Palestines are at war with each other. let me put it to you this way. During the apartheid regime no country wanted to trade with SA because of the image South Africa was displaying to the world, this meant that nobody wanted food that was full of blood.

  11. What confuses me the most about this whole issue is that why is Woolworths being critisised for their right to trade anywhere they like, I mean its not their fault that Israel and Pakistan are at war.
